#it’s strange to thing back and realise this incredibly charged scene was their introduction #no flash backs #no explanations #no descriptions #no ‘well as you know’ exposition #it’s just 2 very very subtle actors with decade of experience and a very spare very short scene #but you KNOW #you KNOW IMMEDIATELY #you know a) these two have oceans of history between them #b) they hold diametrically opposed viewpoints #c) they have probably tried to kill each other at some point #d) they retain enough loyalty to an earlier version of their friendship that they talk amiably about that fact #e) you know shits going to hit the fan as a result of their opposition but you know they cannot do otherwise #and f) they both regret it in a way #THISE SCENE GOES FOR ABOUT 25 SECONDS #you get a cast iron sense of their dynamic with no backstory AT ALL (harrietvane)

and this is why X-Men remains one of my favourites. Blade might have been the first Marvel property to make it to the big screen, setting in motion the possibility that more could follow…but X-Men (and Bryan Singer) showed us how it could be done.

At Thursday’s LGBTQ X-Men panel a Romani fan asked the panel about the representation of Romani people in comics and how they are often characterized as thieves or unstable.

Peter David responded in an elevated voice that when he was in Romania he saw a child being dragged by its parent. The child was unable to stand because their legs were bent upwards.

David asked his guide what was going on. The guide told him that the family was Roma and that Roma parents broke their children’s legs so that they’d be more effective at begging.

David said that because of his experiences he does not want to hear about the representation of Romani people in comics. He refused to discuss the issue further and told the questioner to go away.

How the Musical Identity is Missing in Marvel Films

Did I make this video or something??

This is fascinating!

It fucked with my mind to hear that the “Captain America Theme” from Captain America: Winter Solider, by Henry Jackman, sped up by 105% sounds very close to “Brothers in Arms” by Junkie XL for Mad Max: Fury Road.

And “Mombassa” from Inception by Hanz Zimmer sounds a lot like “Mass vs. Acceleration” from “Drive Angry”  by Michael Wandmacher.

Marvel stopping just short of taking emotional risks? THE HELL YOU SAY.

Other than the mixed tape in Guardians, which was popular music and not score, the only bit of sound I can even remember from any Marvel movie is the screechy sound played when the Winter Soldier showed up. I can’t even dredge up whatever’s played over the comic-pages-flipping opener in every movie and I’ve probably seen it a dozen times now. Is it even the same in every film? No idea.

I feel so sorry for those thwarted vidders! ;)
We do what we want out here on the raggedy edge. Freedom tastes sweet, don’t it?

HA. Writing your own composition and throwing in a symphony adds a level of complexity. ;)

This was so fascinating. And great to see the Elfman. Working with temps sounds beyond frustrating.
