1.12 | 2.12 | 2.18 - alec’s ever changing contact name in magnus’ phone
It’s a game, you see.
When Magnus asked Izzy for Alec’s number the night they first met, he saved it under “Pretty Boy.” But somewhere in the cloudy memories of their evening spent having drinks, Magnus remembers Alec snatching his phone off the coffee table and demanding to know how Magnus got his number.
After Alec rushes out the next morning to nurse his hangover at the Institute, Magnus discovers the contact has been changed to a boring “Alec.”
He’s not sure it’s worth it to come up with another cute name for it.
After Alec walks away from the altar and kisses Magnus in front of everyone, Magnus changes it to “Owes Me A Date.”
He doesn’t even know when Alec finds the time to change it, but sometime after Alec has recovered from his coma and returned to the Institute, Magnus notices the contact is back to Alec.
But the next time they see each other, Alec brings up the date.
After the date itself, the tradition is well established with a series of even more ridiculous names. “Hot Stuff” becomes a curtly disapproving “Lightwood,” (which, Magnus points out, is absolutely out of the question because there are far too many Lightwoods running around New York for Magnus to keep them all sorted out.) So “Bae” gets changed to “A. Lightwood.” And so on.
After Alec becomes Head of the Institute, Magnus names the contact “Mr. Lightwood.” But when he checks his phone a few days later, it’s been changed to “Alexander.”
He leaves it as it is.
And one day, long down the line, he going to look at his phone and find the contact is now “Alexander Lightwood-Bane.”
