chris evans - for flaunt magazine

This is what I’m talking about. When we talk about the way women are sexualized in media imagery and men retort “but men are too!” No they’re not. Not like this. How many photo shoots of male celebrities have you seen where they are posing like this? This is Jessica Alba circa 2001 in Maxim level sexualization. The submissive head tilt, the coy pinup body language, the fake orgasm face. If men and women were equally sexualized in media, there would be images like this of every male celebrity. No more power suit/cigar combos. No more standing tall by a muscle car in the desert. No more club chair sitting, cuff link adjusting, whisky sipping, industrial landscape power fantasies.

The only “standing tall by a muscle car in the desert” photo series I’ll take is Chris Pine’s spread for Details.  It’s not on the same level of Evan’s Flaunt, but it’s closer than some.

the first avenger: dr. erskine said that the serum wouldn’t just affect my muscles, it would affect my cells. create a protective system of regeneration and healing.

age of ultron: thor establishes that steve is not mortal.

endgame: we’re just gonna ignore all of that, and make steve old af to shock the audience, even though it doesn’t make sense that steve would age at all, let alone at the same rate as a non-enhanced human, because what happened in previous movies is meaningless.

that’s some good tea right there

Steve is hiding behind a nearby tree and trying not to laugh as the old guy he paid gives Sam the shield

“Wanna tell me about the girl?”

Old guy who wasnt told about a girl slightly shitting himself “No…I dont think I will.”

ok but imagine the craigslist ad:

Washington DC > services > services for hire

“wanted elderly white male (70+) to troll childhood friend into thinking I traveled back in time and am now old. Poker face a plus, as is striking resemblance to Paul Newman”

That explains SO much! Thank you!

U know I think one of the common threads that led me to enjoy mando, witcher, and bizarrely enough John wick is the main characters being humble.

All of them are badasses and aware of it, and all of them have pride, but they’re all chill and pretty live-and-let-live about it, get into undignified situations and fail at things, and none of that mitigates the fact that they’re the top dogs in their fields. Not only does it make them more personal and relatable, it also makes the image they’re projecting much less fragile.

Emotionless badasses are fine for one-off characters that can or have to be one-trait by virtue of their role in the story, but it’s no good for a leading character. When you’ve connected with a character, seen their cracks and failures, successes are that much more satisfying.

This is Foxglove. It’s a classy umbrella boutique in Hong Kong, that sells silver-handled English “brollies” but it has a big secret. Foxglove caters to the fantasy of being a British spy.

There is one umbrella’s silver handle that will open the door to the posh, luxury world of the gentleman spy.

The dining room and bar look like a private jet.

The hallway looks like a cruise ship.

Then, there’s a room that looks like a high-speed train car.

There’s one other hidden entrance that can only be accessed by guests who know to place their hand on a floral painting at the end of a corridor until it glows. This signals the undercover bartender to open the door where a classic library awaits, a hidden sanctuary of leather club chairs, marble counters and books all around.

Pretty swanky, huh?

Then, when you’re ready to go, take the elevator back down to the umbrella shop.

That is exquisite…

HOW did I not know about this? Grrr…I could have used it in a book!

wait so did Kingsman just film here or…?

“I am more of a romantic than Dan and David. I kinda want him to just leave Cersei! She is bad for you and it’s not healthy and clearly you are in a relationship where you are more in love with her than she loves you.. so, you know.. And what about this Brienne of Tarth?!? She is, like, more a great..”
