hey did anyone hear the news that scientists have actually been able to figure out the most common key that old pirate shanties were sang in
imo it’s really interesting? like, they found and analysed lots and lots of sheet music that they suspect was inspired by all these old shanties, since all the music was written by people who are believed to have been former sailors or even former pirates. and the neat part is that statistically speaking almost 90% of them are written in the same key. i mean, obviously it’s not confirmed 100%, but it looks like almost all pirate shanties were sang in a high C

Reading about abusive men and the way they think. Very unsettling and an incredible book so far. Here are my very professional notes.

This is from “Why Does He DO That” by Lundy Bancroft.
I’m so glad I’m seeing more and more Lundy Bancroft quotes on my dash because this book CHANGES THE LIVES OF ABUSE VICTIMS.
The programs run for rehabilitating abusive men through the courts? Bancroft DESIGNED THEM. His programs are replicated ALL OVER THE WORLD.
He literally wrote THE book on abuser rehabilitation.
Here’s a link to a pdf copy. If you haven’t read this book yet, read this book.
Can we talk about how it seems like the entirety of the book is online on PDF, this making it accessible to anyone with an internet connection?
That is how we stop abuse.
We enable everyone to know what it looks like, so that when it happens, they can shut it down.
Arm yrself with knowledge!

I’ve read this book, it is good and highlights the common stereotypes that abusers themselves made up to win sympathy as well as the myriad of things they claim cause them to be abusive (which don’t) and the ways in which abusers confuse, manipulate and ultimately abuse people which can make it difficult for their victims to make sense of.
