What I love about this moment is that there’s no mistaking it. This was written by someone who either had a doctorate or knew a PHD. Until I really thought about it recently, it never occurred to me to mistake this for someone taking a swipe at PHDs, ie someone calling them useless – it’s so clearly someone who knows the feeling of inadequacy of being a doctor but not that kind of doctor.
*clears throat* it’s also a star trek ref, Sam.
Bones: Damnit, Jim, I’m a doctor, not a [whatever wierd type of expert is relevant]
*sidles away again*
