#the key to successfully landing a Belligerent Sexual Tension pair is harder than you’d think #bc just the required items to make up the trope in a blender and you just have boring unhappy assholes #for it to even perform as the dynamic should you MUST be able to see that #a) they are genuinely attracted# and b) do genuinely feel kindly or care about the other’s well-being when the chips are down #enjoying the other’s misfortune is not by itself BST #to reach the full dynamic you have to come through in a pinch when the danger is real #whether that’s ‘ok the base is invaded you have to leave with me right now’ #or ‘i make fun of you but this other person making fun of you stops NOW bc you don’t deserve that’ #if there’s no OBSERVABLE kindness then you’re left with jurassic world #kind of incomprehensible why they’d make out by almost any human standard of behaviour #if all you see is the contempt and meanness it will most likely just convince the viewer they are contemptuous and mean #it’s the kindness that’s the key element #when you get it right the sudden disclosure of feelings is not just necessary but INEVITABLE #belligerence alone is just mean #belligerence and attraction is hate-fucking (for which there is a time and place of course) #belligerence attraction and kindness is PURE NARRATIVE GOLD (via![[profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)

If the intention here was to show that violence is a tool she primarily uses as a) a way to correct gross injustice, b) in response to violence done against her, her people, or her allies, or c) as protection in the face of threats, then mission accomplished! I’m not sure that was the intent though.
These people (blinded by stupidity Dany haters) are the dumbest.
Simply, any war at all can be made to look like an evil mindless atrocity if only the hostile actions of one side are considered and emphasized. Any act of retribution, revolution, or justice can be made to look like mindless violence if only the harms done to one side are emphasized irrespective of the context that lead to them.

Okay Jordan here pinned down my exact issue with the finale:
the complete absence of intimate relationships of any kind for nearly all the main characters as the series ends. It made the episode feel almost sterile – and lonely.
