I know the mcu sucks and they would never have what it takes to do a faithful young avengers adaptation but
explain that to my monkey brain who loves the young avengers and just wants any kind of content with them. go on. be a heartless bitch and break the news to it.

Quote-tweet of article from Screenrant that Lady Gaga might play Ursula in live-action Little Mermaid film. @MerQueenJude saying "ursula is fat. umistakably fat. let's not do this, k?"
disneyforprincesses:
Don’t do this, Disney.

AT THE AGE OF EIGHT? THIS IS WHY YOU CAN’T LINE UP STAR WARS’ AGES WITH THE REAL WORLD.
JOINED THE APPRENTICE LEGISLATURE AT THE AGE OF E I G H T.
The Clone Wars Visual Guide (2008) by Jason Fry | Legends/non-canon
Whatever, my kid could TOTALLY be part of a government. He absolutely knows what he’s doing at all times.
(As it happens, I just asked said child what his first order of business would be if he was in charge of anything and he said “Uhhh, no littering allowed, and help stop global warming”, and then I felt bad because those were real things, hahahahaha OH IT’S FINE *sob*)
So, I dunno, maybe Naboo ran into a streak of terribly incompetent adult politicians and were like “fuck it, let’s just take “an 8-year-old could do a better job” to its logical conclusion”?
SEE, LIKE, THIS IS WHAT I’M SAYING. There’s a sweetness to a lot of children and how they innocently want to do good and help people! And Star Wars had this thing on Naboo, where they chose their leaders really young because they were uncorrupted by all the stuff adults have to face. And that’s interesting to play with in a fictional world! That there can be a purity of vision because they haven’t been tarnished by outside influences. You can see elements of that in actual children being super sweet! In the GFFA, your son might make an actually legit good politician!
But in our world? OH FUCK NO.
And so the two don’t really map onto each other, even if we could get into a discussion about how our real world look at children being able to make political decisions is VASTLY overestimated to what they’re actually capable of and that there’s some utterly VILE and HEARTBREAKING shit going on because of that, that the narrative intention is fed by/feeds into that, but within the world of the GFFA, within the fairy tale elements of the GFFA, I’m pretty sure we weren’t supposed to be going, “Oh, man, Naboo is so fucked up.” but instead to see them as a little strange, but that Padme is super good at her job and really loves it and was meant for it!
My coworker’s son is eight years old. He is part of a youth council on ‘future leaders’. They had a debate on Brexit the other week that some of the grownups had trouble following. So.
