The Star Wars Universe is just about the only verse where bringing a knife to a gun fight is actually a pretty solid plan, and bringing a gun to a knife fight is likely to end poorly for you.
well that depends if it’s a projectile gun or an energy weapon. Lightsabers can deflect blasters, we’ve seen that. But all that happens when bullet (or any metal object) meets lightsaber is melty liquid metal. Which is not pleasant to get a face full of.
So, you CAN bring a gun to a knife fight. But only if it’s a very very old one.
