i’m awful. but awful rhymes with waffle, so it’s not that bad
[every english speaking non american/Canadian sighs deeply]
omfg why the fuck would you pronounce awful like waffle? wtf is going on in america?
im trying to think how either of those words could possibly be pronounced in any other way
Okay, so after digging through the notes to figure out how non-Americans pronounce these words, I wound up at http://ift.tt/2vfKQfe and http://ift.tt/2vyyvVZ
And here’s the thing: I can totally hear the difference between the UK and US pronunciations of each word. But the UK pronunciations of the two words sound like the same vowels to me, so I’m still confused.
Look. I am American and there is no way I would pronounce awful like waffle.
The first is Awww, the second is Ahhh.
Don’t listen to the weirdos in Iowa.
I may be a weirdo, but I sure as heck ain’t from Iowa.
….they rhyme for me and I’m from Scotland?
