but sam, not everyone has xkit!

But if you don’t have xkit, there’s no reason to ask someone to tag anyway, at least as far as I’m aware? Tumblr doesn’t have a native blacklist function, so if you want someone to tag something presumably it’s so that you can blacklist it on xkit. So if you don’t have xkit, tagging won’t help anyway, at least as far as I can tell.

Whereas if you do have xkit, you can set it so that it scans the post as well as the tags, which I’ve found helpful when people don’t tag stuff but do talk about it in the post. I just figure people might not be aware they can do that.

Oh my god there’s a way to scan post content and block things, I don’t have to hide from Tumblr on days when shows I watch are airing. Glee.

Yep! I believe it’s “use improved checking” under Blacklist options. Sorry, I should have said that bit sooner but I thought it was more intuitive than “use improved checking” which is a bit opaque. :D

there’s also the app for chrome, ‘Tumblr Savior’ which serves a similar purpose. :)
