bees or wasps zooming around you are investigating to see if theres any food source on you, not trying to attack you (they might smell food on your clothes, or the colors of your clothes resemble flowers). they dont perceive you as an animal but as part of the environment, with no distinction between you and the ground, so they dont register you as a threat until you start freaking out and flailing at them (which looks to them like a predator attacking and is why most stings happen)
imagine like youre really hungry and saw a storefront from a distance with what looked like delicious food behind the window. and you move in close to check it out and then suddenly the building itself unfolds into a mass of limbs and starts swatting at you with them. youd be pretty fucking freaked out, and if you had a gun or another weapon you might attempt to hurt at it in hopes that would scare it off.
best thing you can do is to stay still. it might land on you and i know thats scary, but its just looking for food and will leave once it realizes you dont have any. moving around is likelier to scare it or get it caught in your clothes, which is perceived as a threat and may provoke a sting
the trick to remaining calm is to imagine them exitedly saying “hey! hey, are you a flower? are you a flower?” in a cute voice as they gently bomp you
