I did color-code the last time I moved, though it was very basic – I just put blue tape on the sides of boxes that were marked fragile. The moving guys really liked it though.
Having a “hot mess, unpack this first” color of tape is a great idea though. Then you can tell whoever is helping you move “orange tape goes in the living room to be unpacked first” or whatnot.
