Hi, I’m here to propose that A.A. Milne’s distinctive syntax in the Winnie-the-Pooh books is a major origin of modern Capital Letters Used For Emphasis On The Internet. Observe:

(in which Pooh wryly self-deprecates)

(in which Eeyore masters modern sarcasm)

(in which Eeyore is vagueblogging)

(in which Owl says something i would absolutely type in the YOOL 2017)

(In which Eeyore continues to be a shining example to us all)

(in which Pooh describes a Big Mood)

(in which Piglet has a Relatable Experience)

I could go on, but you can read the books and find your own. It’s a weirdly modern-feeling layer to an old, thoroughly enjoyable story and most of the original Pooh books are online for free. I cited from this online text upload of the book. Enjoy!

holy shit i think you just cracked the linguistic case of the era

to be honest i think like this a Great Majority of the time

type like it too, on Twitter and tumblr

It is a little Anxious, said I, to be a Very Tired Grad Student Entirely Surrounded By Half-Written Research Papers.

Quaere: does Winnie-the-Pooh predate The Provincial Lady? (It does).

I think it goes back at least to emphatic writing patterns in epistolary novels, though, any never really went away.

that’s one of the things about defining “sexual attraction” as “looking at someone and thinking that you want to fuck them”

i think lesbians in particular often have a difficult time even recognizing that what they’re experiencing is attraction?

i rarely look at a woman and think to myself “dang i want to fuck her.” it’s always more just a strong feeling, like a sense of being really drawn to her or being interested by her or enjoying her a lot, that just feels different than finding someone intriguing or cool in a platonic way.

i’ve known i liked women since i was thirteen years old and i still have a hard time recognizing when i feel attracted to a woman! on more than one occasion i have misinterpreted those feelings as intense dislike or outright HATRED. sometimes i’ll walk by a woman and think to myself “i wonder why i found her so interesting to look at,” before remembering that i’m a big fucking lesbian

it’s just a very internal and subjective personal experience that won’t be the same for everyone and attempting to concretely define it or dissect it into discrete parts is always going to be a fool’s errand

Absolutely my experience.

Attraction to another woman is so often described as ‘girlcrush’, it took me until my early twenties to really confirm that yes, I was bisexual. Even now, I sometimes struggle - there’s a reason ‘life goal or wife goal’ is something I commonly wail on tumblr posts. Unpacking those years of general expectation that yes I should aspire to be like this person, yes I should envy that person’s clothes/hair/outlook on life, yes I should want to be this person…it’s something I still struggle with.

Shout out to all your internet friends who are gone.

Those messenger screen names that haven’t logged on in ages, some before detailed profiles were a thing on those services.

Those emails that are long since abandoned, some with domains that no longer exist.

Those online friends you knew years ago and who then helped shaped you in some way, who you just can’t FIND anymore.

Those people who once were, and hopefully still exist IRL, that seem to have no known internet life anymore.

And those who have actually passed on, and their online lives are now a memorial to them.

I miss you all. I hope life is/was kind to you, and maybe one day, we’ll somehow connect again.

The Australian Guild members I raided with in WOW, and I only ever knew your avatars’ names. You were important to me. I hope you are well.

so let me get this straight: the UK is very pointedly saying ‘please do what you have always done in these situations where a terrorist attack has happened on British Soil and keep the sensitive intelligence we entrusted to you quiet until we give you the go ahead.

and trump’s government has leaked pretty much everything to the press, thus hindering the investigations here to the point where our home sec has had to censor intelligence we’re now giving the US, our closest ally

w o w

okay a lot of people don’t know what i’m talking about, so here’s a link

but the main gist is: trump’s government has leaked to the US press, and thus the world:

- the name of the bomber
- the fucking forensic photos from the investigation

these may seem like small things but first off:

- our government didn’t want to name the bomber until thursday/tuesday, so they could continue their investigation without alerting anyone he may have been working with
- they also didn’t want the media hanging around his family or his flat, which they ended up doing
- they’re the fucking forensic photos of evidence, still covered in blood, is there no such thing as tact

our home sec has been forced to now censor all further intelligence we give to the US on this matter, and has released [what i may call, light heartedly, the most british angry political statement i’ve ever read]

“The British police have been very clear that they want to control the flow of information in order to protect operational integrity, the element of surprise. So it is irritating if it gets released from other sources and I have been very clear with our friends that should not happen again.”

so in the past two week slaone, trump’s government has managed to reveal intelligence from israel and the uk, two of their closest political and military allies.

i reiterate:

w o w

Le Prince Noir - 2017

After the color/texture study I posted on the 25th of April on Instagram, I spent more time playing with Painter 12’s watercolor tool and trying new effects. I won’t do this often because Painter 12 is such a heavy software that it often makes my computer slow down. 🙄 Reference used for the uniform. I loved the front part with the buttons. ♥
